Stuart Wilson, proprietor of Coversure Insurance was unanimously elected as Chairman and Emma Cornish, manager of Colne’s Co-op, was chosen as the Deputy Chairman of the BID Board. Stuart said: “We have got a great deal to do if we want to provide value for money for our 330 levy payers and I want us to hit the ground running!”

BIDs run for five years and are not-for-profit bodies which seek to improve business within a defined area. The directors ensure the business plan is delivered effectively and efficiently to give the best value for the levy payers, who pay 1.5% of their total rateable value into the BID.

Emma Cornish explained: “We have already defined our core themes – where we believe we can drive Colne forward from a business perspective. These are: Pride in Colne, Promoting Colne, Partnership in Colne and Protecting Colne. Now we need to not only work out how we are going to achieve and measure goals within these four areas, but also develop a series of core principles that lay out how we want to operate.”
