Colne BID Manager Appointed

Posted By Editor

Lisa Durkin has been appointed as the manager of the Colne BID and was welcomed by the Board at a meeting held early January.

Stuart Wilson, chairman of the BID Board, commented: “We had some excellent candidates, but Lisa’s experience, as a previous Town Centre Manager and with her expertise in digital marketing, as well as her track record of formulating regeneration and retail and leisure strategies in towns like Burnley and Bury, led us to offer her the role.”

Lisa was among the first cohort to complete an MSc in Place Management, the first such course in the country, at Manchester University.  At the time she was Bury’s Town Centre Manager and she was able to draw on real-life experience in her studies, writing a thesis on the Consumer Behaviour of Market Users.

Lisa said: “We have so much to do, but I know we can make real enhancements and improvements for Colne’s business community.  We’ll be looking at the different  business sectors  and attempting to deliver across our four key areas for them.  Initially, I will be building a comprehensive database of Colne BID businesses and their contact details, so we can easily keep in touch both with our progress and as a means of opening the dialogue.  Simultaneously, we will be gathering baseline data, so we can set Key Performance Indicators and assess our progress in Boosting Business in Colne. Then we’ll be looking at developing a new Brand for Colne Town centre to use as a platform for promoting Colne for shopping, leisure and business ”

The BID Manager role is a part-time role where Lisa will work from home and also be present in Colne town centre.

Please contact Lisa or a member of the Colne BID team by using the ‘contact us’ section on the website or e-mail: manager@colnebid.co.uk
