Colne’s Virtual High Street, Free Delivery Service and Click & Collect hub launches in a ‘bid’ to support Colne High Street this Christmas.

Colne BID is taking the town online… in a response to tackling a second lockdown where non-essential retail businesses are forced to close again.
We’re offering all our small retailers their own online ‘Shopify‘ store, with an ambitious project to potentially take the whole town online so shoppers can still support their favourite, local independent shops during the pandemic.

Colne BID – the town’s Business Improvement District is behind this project through their www. cometocolne.com hub which features a new Virtual Shopping Hub of Colne’s online retail or service businesses, as well as our ‘Essential’ shops who are trading during lockdown.

This means people will be able to browse our Virtual Colne Shopping Hub and support their local High Street, right through the run up to Christmas as we can also offer free local delivery to tempt shoppers. We’re hoping our businesses can pick up some new customers from further afield too.

The town has teamed up with a local delivery partner, LiveWell UK who are able to deliver anything in the Pendle Borough -next day (weekdays only), using a local network. This local delivery service, as well as offering a click & collect hub, will be provided at no cost to the consumer or Colne business, thanks to funding from Colne BID, Colne Area Committee and Pendle Borough Council. It gives many types of High Street businesses, including hairdressers, gyms and restaurants the opportunity to pivot their business to create a retail element, sell online or via click and collect.

Jane Turner, one of the BID Directors, and owner of local business Tubbs of Colne said;

This is about future-proofing the High Street, and it’s a great opportunity for some of our smaller retailers to develop their businesses.
Christmas is a really important time for retailers, and it’s been great to see the numbers of small businesses wanting to sign up and the show of support from the community who are keen to ditch Amazon and spend money locally this Christmas. We’ve got businesses adapting to a takeaway service or click and collect, and examples of really innovative ways of making sure they survive. We’re moving at an incredible pace, with new websites being designed and launched within 3-4 days and the delivery service beginning on Tuesday 10 November”.

Visit www.cometocolne.com to explore our town centre website, business directory and virtual shopping hub.

Any Colne Retailer interested in signing up or finding out more can contact Jane Turner e: info@turnerwines.co.uk or Lisa Durkin, Colne BID Manager e: manager@colnebid.co.uk
