Millions More Levelling Up Funding for Pendle

Posted By Editor

Pendle is to receive more than £15 million through the government’s Levelling Up Fund. This is part of a bid put together by Lancashire County Council for East Lancashire, which is receiving £49.6 million in total.

The bid has three key themes of upgrading public transport, making residential areas safer for walking and cycling, and improving the connections between where we live with where we go to work, shop or have fun.

What this will mean is more cycle routes and places to securely lock a bicycle, wider footpaths and safer junctions. We will see better information and accessibility at bus stops, with shorter journey times and more efficient routes. This money will help improve transport infrastructure across Pendle, from Brierfield to Barnoldswick.

This £15million follows on from the £25 million Nelson town deal, £6.5 million Levelling Up Funding for Colne’s market and theatres and £3.6 million from the Shared Prosperity Fund for other projects across the borough. Collectively, these three funds are delivering more than £50million into Pendle.
